For Cynthia Montoto, owner of Your Little Dove Children’s Boutique in Boise, Idaho, her store was a true calling. “I was coping with a devasting loss back in 2018 and I suddenly started seeing doves throughout my day-to-day life,” she says. “So, I took a leap of faith and opened up a store that specializes in ecofriendly and heirloom-quality goods for children. I tried to make my loss into a vessel of hope, peace, and promise for others.”

Hope and promise have been severely tested during the global pandemic, and Montoto has experienced her share of problems. “So many logistical issues appeared for us, but more significantly, it has been heartbreaking to see how COVID has negatively impacted our customers and friends.”

Yet, as someone accustomed to turning pain into joy, Montoto and Your Little Dove were obvious partners for Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project. Wanting to help someone who is suffering a very personal loss and other children in need, Your Little Dove is providing gifts to children and Columbia Bank is paying the bill. “We are passing it on to a customer who recently lost a pregnancy,” says Montoto. “To help her through her grief we are providing gifts from our store for her young daughter. We will also be providing a shopping spree for low-income children at our local Le Soleil School. We are thrilled to be able to spread a little joy to children in our community.”
