For the Nehring’s, owners of Woodburn Vision Source of Woodburn, Oregon, optometry runs in their veins. Dr. Scott Nehring has been serving the community for more than 30 years, and now his daughter, Dr. Emily Nehring is taking over the family business. “It’s a real source of pride to know that Emily is going to continue to care for our patients,” says Dr. Scott Nehring.
Ensuring the health of those patients has taken on added meaning during the pandemic. “It has been a struggle to ensure we put in place safety protocols to prohibit the spread of the virus,” says Dr. Emily Nehring. “We had to close down and reduce staff, but luckily we have been able to slowly bring them back.”
Others have not been so fortunate and that is where the Nehring’s are focusing their efforts. As a partner of Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project, Woodburn Vision Source is providing free eyecare services to a family in need and Columbia Bank is paying the bill. “We are passing it on by providing free eyecare to a family that has lost their main source of income,” says Emily. “With Columbia Bank’s support, we will help reduce the burden on this family and hope to have a small part in placing them back on the road to recovery.”
