For many fans of Asian cuisine, a heated debate can be had when trying to choose between Thai food and Sushi. Luckily for the people of Vancouver, Washington, they can have both at Thai Orchid. “We are the only Thai restaurant in town that also offers sushi,” says owner Kanokrat Saenguraiporn. “And people love our food as evidenced by the fact that we’ve won best Thai food AND best sushi 11 years in a row by The Columbian.”

Unfortunately, the global pandemic has meant that diners in Vancouver have had to miss out on visiting the Thai Orchid and enjoying both cuisines in person. “It has been quite difficult for us,” says Saenguraiporn. “We’ve had to transition to take-out only and that has negatively impacted our business and staffing.”

Despite such hardship, Saenguraiporn and team are excited to help out wherever they can and that has brought them to be a part of Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project. They wanted to give back to those that are doing so much for the community and that is why Thai Orchid is providing meals to health care workers and Columbia Bank is picking up the tab. “We are passing it on to hospital health care workers,” he says. “They do so much for our community, and with Columbia Bank’s help, we are going to help make their lives a little brighter.”
