For 25 years, Sushi Tama has been serving authentic Japanese food to people in Tacoma, Washington, with a special focus on fresh sushi. Their chef, Tamasan has been a chef in some of the finest restaurants in New York City, Key West, Aspen, Portland, and Mexico City.

Like so many restaurants in large and small cities around the nation, the pandemic has been tremendously difficult to navigate. “Our business is down about 50% of last year,” says owner Danny Williams. “As a result, we had to reduce our staff by half as well.”

Yet even with their own struggles, Sushi Tama is looking to help out in the community in any way they can. Excited to join Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project, Sushi Tama is providing free meals to healthcare workers, and Columbia Bank is picking up the tab. “With Columbia Bank’s support we are passing it on with free meals to healthcare workers at local hospitals,” says Williams. “We will give these very important people a nice treat to brighten their day.”
