Describing Rise and Shine Cabaret Café is not an easy thing to do. Part health food restaurant, part comedy club, part cabaret and part art studio, the space is not your typical small business. “My business is a reflection of my wildest imaginations, from the décor to the entertainment aspects,” says owner Tonee Weaver. “Whether its creation of art, or performances, or great healthy food, my business is definitely unique.”

What has been uniquely challenging of course, has been the pandemic. “I have not been able to hold entertainment related events due to COVID,” says Weaver. “I’ve also had to reduce staffing and that has led to really long days for me.”

Yet, with the hope of better days ahead, Weaver is looking to celebrate with a family when events are once again allowed. That is why Weaver decided to be a partner in Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project. Rise and Shine Cabaret Café is passing it on with a children’s birthday party, and Columbia Bank is picking up the tab. “I’m going to be providing a free birthday party for the child of one of my customers, including all the food and decorations,” she says. “Kids have really suffered with restrictions on gatherings, so with Columbia Bank’s help, I hope to create a truly memorable birthday!”
