Once Upon A Child in Salem, Oregon, is a resale store for all kinds of kids’ items, from clothing to toys. For 26 years, husband and wife Phillip and Angela have owned and operated the shop, building a loyal clientele that keeps coming back for the great prices and even better customer experience.
Being invested in their community, Phillip and Angela have partnered with local churches and charitable organizations like Family Building Blocks for years, getting clothes to the families who need them most.
Even though the pandemic forced Phillip and Angela to suspend business at their store, they’ve still been hard at work. By remodeling the interior, providing curbside service and fulfilling requests from nonprofits for necessities like diapers for young families, they haven’t let the crisis keep them from doing what they love.
Thanks to Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project—and by leveraging their network of philanthropic partners—Phillip and Angela identified families experiencing hardship because of COVID-19 and gave each of them a gift voucher to Once Upon A Child, ensuring that fewer children in Salem will go without the clothes they need.
