Northwest SUP & Fitness of Yacolt, Washington provides loads of fun activities and classes, but also has a serious side to their business. “We hold many group events and private tours, but we also teach corrective health training for seniors and clients who are rehabbing for serious injury,” says owner and certified personal trainer, Michelle Doty. “Stand Up Paddle boarding is more than just a fun recreational activity; its serious therapy.”

The therapeutic aspects of Northwest SUP & Fitness have been a big help during the pandemic. “Outdoor fitness has been a constant for many people yearning for physical activity, and we’ve had a great overall season,” she says.

Doty wants to help people continue that path toward overall mental and physical health, now more than ever. And that is why Doty’s banker invited her to join in on Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project. Doty was excited to join, and as a result, Northwest SUP & Fitness is providing therapy sessions to a client in need, and Columbia Bank is paying the bill. “We are passing it on with lessons to customers who can’t afford the kind of classes and trainers they need right now,” says Doty. “With Columbia Bank picking up the tab, we are going to make sure some folks get the kind of renewal and physical benefit the truly need.”
