Shanna and Dirk Fledderjohann grew up in Walla Walla and spent much of their time going to local art galleries. “Even as a kid I was always inspired by how someone could create art, could take an idea in their head and transform it into something everyone can see,” says Shanna. Today, they own Kingfisher Gallery & Custom Framing where they design frames and sell local and regional art.

During the initial phase of the pandemic, the Fledderjohann’s had to close the store and reduce their staff. “It’s been really tough,” says Dirk. “There are many artists who are struggling because their work isn’t on display for people to appreciate and purchase.”

Despite their own challenges, the Fledderjohann’s are partnering with Columbia Bank and joining in their Pass It On Project to support an organization that provides vital services in the community. “We donating art to Blue Mountain Heart to Heart – a nonprofit that helps serve the health needs of marginalized people in the community and Columbia Bank is paying the bill,” says Shanna. “With our donation, they will be able to raise funds at auction to help continue their work. Because of Columbia Bank’s resources, we hope our community’s most vulnerable people will get the support they need.
