Visit Heritage Bar & Kitchen and you might bump into Harry Heritage — its Sasquatch mascot. But unlike its recluse Bigfoot brethren, Harry is happy to provide some joy as you take in tasty food and drink at the Spokane establishment.

Heritage Bar & Kitchen was happy to sling local craft beers, Washington wines, and cocktails made from Spokane distillery spirits until closing time rang. But, like so many restaurants, COVID-19 threw a wrench in its operation. Business slowed, food costs rose, and supply costs ballooned with the need for more PPE.

And yet, owners Gabe Wood and Alex King still want to help their community. After all, they said they only made it to this point after the generosity from friends and family when they opened two years ago. They want to give back.

Heritage Bar & Kitchen, inspired by the Pass It On Project, is donating meals to Habitat for Humanity Spokane volunteers at an upcoming event and Columbia is paying the bill. The non-profit is doing essential work, including building homes in Spokane for those in need.

With Columbia Bank’s support, Gabe and Alex will continue working in their community and, in their own words, “Pay kindness forward.”
