For more the 50 years, George’s Cycles of Boise, Idaho has been providing bicycle and electric bicycle retail and repair services to the Treasure Valley. “We’ve been here a long time, and even our new location is in a building that was first built in 1947,” say owners Mike Cooley and Tom Platt.

It almost seems unfair that such a beautiful old building has to deal with such a new problems as the global pandemic. “It’s been very stressful for us, “says Cooley. “We have had all the big problems associated with COVID – difficulty sourcing supplies, keeping our staff safe and enforcing mask mandates with customers.”

Yet such a longstanding business is more than ready to pitch in to help the community that has welcomed them for so long. That is why they eagerly joined Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project. Helping those that need it most, George’s Cycles is providing bikes and parts to the Boise Bicycle Project and Columbia Bank is picking up the tab. “We are excited to pass it on to the Boise Bike Project, which provides bikes to people who can’t afford them,” says Platt. “With funds provided by Columbia Bank, we are going to help make sure more and more people can enjoy the pleasure of riding their own bike.
