At the studio of Best Brows in Portland, pampering is not a byproduct, it’s a mission. “My studio is a place where you come to relax, refresh, laugh, or take a nap and leave not only looking better, but feeling lighter,” says owner Anisa Maria. Located in the distinct and wildly-colored building at the corner of NE Burnside and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in downtown, Anisa works to provide each client with exactly the type of look they desire, so they feel their best and most confident.

What wasn’t a confidence boost however, was having to close shop during the height of the pandemic. “It was an incredibly difficult time for me,” says Maria. “Imagine – I had to close down, was not able to obtain unemployment, had just come back from maternity leave, and was stuck at home caring for a newborn. I am so fortunate now to be able to get back into the swing of things and return to work.”

That spirit of good fortune is a big reason why Maria is partnering with Columbia Bank’s Pass It On Project. “There are so many people I know who have postponed joy during the pandemic, and I want to help them recapture that feeling,” she says. That is why Best Brows in Portland is providing services individuals in the community who cannot afford self-care right now and Columbia Bank is paying the bill. “Things just look a little brighter and feel a little lighter when you feel good, and that’s the help I want to give,” says Maria.
